I’ve recently heard from a long-standing resident of Chichester Close who’s raised growing concerns about daily congestion and safety at the top of Winchester Road, particularly where it meets the A52/Barrowby Rd.

The issue? Vehicles are increasingly parking right up to the corner—despite it being a busy junction. Add to that two bus stops opposite each other, delivery vans, cars trying to turn, and general school-run or peak-time traffic—and you have a daily dose of gridlock. Buses can’t manoeuvre. Visibility is poor. And tempers are fraying.

The suggestion from residents is simple:

  • Double yellow lines on the corner (like those near Tescos).
  • Clearly marked bus stops on both sides of the road.

These measures could help keep the junction clear and safer for everyone. But what do you think?

📣 We want to hear from you.

  • Have you experienced the congestion first-hand?
  • Would double yellows and clearer bus markings help?
  • Do you support a formal request to the Highways department?
